To improve their customers’ experience, the Postal Life Insurance has set service standards in the PLI/RPLI Citizen’s Charter. The objective of these standards is to protect the interests of the insured and to ensure quality of service, better response time for sales and after sales operations. PLI RPLI Service Tax Revised from vide PLI Directorate Letter No. 19-9/2013-LI dated. Service Tax for PLI/RPLI First year premium is 3.62% and Service Tax for PLI/RPLI Renewal Premium is 1.82% w.e.f.
Introduction of Swachh Bharat Cess of 0.5% on PLI/RPLI Premia. This notification has increased the rate of service tax 0.5% for swachh bharat cess w.e.f 15.11.2015. Due care should be taken of the negative list. All the other items not included in the negative list are liable to be taxed.

Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue vide Notification No.21/2015-Service Tax and 22/2015 – Service Tax dated 06.11.2015 has introduced Cess of 0.5% as Swachh Bharat Cess w.e.f 15.11.2015 on services coming under the purview of Service Tax. Accordingly Service Tax (including Swachh Bharat Cess ) on PLI/RPLI Premia will be collected as under wef 15.11.2015
